1. Acceptance of Terms

By using ShiftStarters (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These terms apply to all visitors, job seekers, and employers.

2. What ShiftStarters Is

ShiftStarters is an online job board. We display job listings from two sources:

• Direct listings — posted by employers directly through our Post a Job form, reviewed by us before going live
• Aggregated listings — pulled automatically from third-party job APIs (Adzuna, Jooble) and displayed on our site

ShiftStarters is not an employer, employment agency, or recruitment agency. We do not employ job seekers, guarantee job offers, or act as an intermediary in employment contracts. Any employment relationship is solely between the job seeker and the employer.

3. For Job Seekers

Age requirements

You must be at least 14 years old to use ShiftStarters. Individual job listings may have their own minimum age requirements. By submitting a Quick Apply application, you confirm that you meet the minimum age requirement stated on the listing.

Quick Apply

Our Quick Apply feature lets you submit a short application directly to an employer without a CV. When you use Quick Apply:

• Your application details (name, email, phone, message) are sent directly to the employer
• ShiftStarters is not responsible for the employer's response or hiring decisions
• You must keep your message professional and relevant to the job
• Abusive, offensive, or inappropriate messages are blocked and will result in your access being restricted

Aggregated listings

Many listings on ShiftStarters are pulled from third-party sources. We apply filters to improve quality but cannot guarantee the accuracy, currency, or appropriateness of every listing. Clicking "Apply on Employer Site" will take you to a third-party website — we are not responsible for that website's content or practices.

4. For Employers

Posting jobs

By submitting a job listing, you confirm that:

• The job is genuine and the role described is real and available
• All information in the listing is accurate to the best of your knowledge
• The role complies with UK employment law, including national minimum wage requirements
• You have the authority to recruit for the role
• The listing does not discriminate unlawfully on the basis of age, gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic

Featured listings and payment

Featured listings are paid placements (£10/week at the time of writing). Payment is processed by Stripe. By purchasing a Featured listing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. ShiftStarters does not store card details. Refunds are not available once a listing has been made live.

Moderation

All direct job submissions are reviewed by ShiftStarters before going live. We reserve the right to refuse, edit, or remove any listing at our discretion without notice, including listings that are misleading, inappropriate, or do not meet our quality standards.

Applications

For Quick Apply listings, applicant details are forwarded to the contact email you provided. You are responsible for handling applications fairly, responding in a timely manner, and complying with data protection law in how you use applicants' personal data.

5. Prohibited Use

You must not use ShiftStarters to:

• Post fake, misleading, or fraudulent job listings
• Harvest personal data from applicants for purposes other than recruitment
• Send spam or unsolicited communications to applicants
• Submit abusive, offensive, or inappropriate applications or job posts
• Attempt to scrape, copy, or reproduce the site's content without permission
• Circumvent our security measures or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
• Use the site in any way that violates applicable UK law

6. Limitation of Liability

ShiftStarters provides the Site on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of job listings, particularly those aggregated from third-party sources
• We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site or any job listing found on it
• We are not liable for the conduct of employers or job seekers who use the Site
• We are not liable for the content of any third-party websites linked from the Site

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

7. Intellectual Property

The ShiftStarters name, logo, design, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not reproduce or use them without our written permission. Job listing content from Adzuna and Jooble remains the property of those services and their respective employers.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of the page shows when these terms were last updated.
