Please read these before using ShiftStarters

Summary: ShiftStarters is a job board — we connect young people with employers. We are not an employer, recruitment agency, or employment agency. We are not responsible for the content of job listings pulled from third-party sources. Use the site sensibly, and if something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using ShiftStarters (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These terms apply to all visitors, job seekers, and employers.

2. What ShiftStarters Is

ShiftStarters is an online job board. We display job listings from two sources:

ShiftStarters is not an employer, employment agency, or recruitment agency. We do not employ job seekers, guarantee job offers, or act as an intermediary in employment contracts. Any employment relationship is solely between the job seeker and the employer.

3. For Job Seekers

Age requirements

You must be at least 14 years old to use ShiftStarters. Individual job listings may have their own minimum age requirements. By submitting a Quick Apply application, you confirm that you meet the minimum age requirement stated on the listing.

Quick Apply

Our Quick Apply feature lets you submit a short application directly to an employer without a CV. When you use Quick Apply:

Aggregated listings

Many listings on ShiftStarters are pulled from third-party sources. We apply filters to improve quality but cannot guarantee the accuracy, currency, or appropriateness of every listing. Clicking "Apply on Employer Site" will take you to a third-party website — we are not responsible for that website's content or practices.

Safety

⚠️ Stay safe when job hunting. Legitimate employers will never ask you to pay money upfront, share your bank details before being hired, or send money transfers as part of a "test." If something feels wrong, do not proceed. Report suspicious listings to us at hello@shiftstarters.com.

4. For Employers

Posting jobs

By submitting a job listing, you confirm that:

Featured listings and payment

Featured listings are paid placements (£10/week at the time of writing). Payment is processed by Stripe. By purchasing a Featured listing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. ShiftStarters does not store card details. Refunds are not available once a listing has been made live.

Moderation

All direct job submissions are reviewed by ShiftStarters before going live. We reserve the right to refuse, edit, or remove any listing at our discretion without notice, including listings that are misleading, inappropriate, or do not meet our quality standards.

Applications

For Quick Apply listings, applicant details are forwarded to the contact email you provided. You are responsible for handling applications fairly, responding in a timely manner, and complying with data protection law in how you use applicants' personal data.

ShiftStarters provides the Site on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

7. Intellectual Property

The ShiftStarters name, logo, design, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not reproduce or use them without our written permission. Job listing content from Adzuna and Jooble remains the property of those services and their respective employers.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of the page shows when these terms were last updated.
